                                                           INTRODUCTION

        This is a guide to enlightenment. It reveals techniques that have been taught from time immemorial to connect one to the primal life energy that enlivens the earth, plants, animals, man, and the universe.  The universe is alive and conscious.  The planets themselves are but the shadow of the great beings, which influence our lives and organize time through their orbits around the sun.

        It is an introduction to the Ancient Path of Enlightenment, the path that utilizes mantra to invoke the ancient archetypes that exist in the collective unconscious from time immemorial.  It is an experiential path.  It contains the proper practice of potent sound meditations or mantra meditations and the time they are to be practiced to the day and hour.  By using the correct mantra at the correct time the energy of the cosmic Gods are properly invoked.  They thus reveal themselves in the consciousness of the meditater as shining beings.  

       The word “Deva” is the word often translated as a Hindu God.  Its literal translation is “shining being.” In my experience the Devas are the Inner Light.  As meditation is entered first comes formless light, then the light takes form, divine human form.  

       Jesus has said that we are the Light.  Again, that we are one with Him, who in turn is one with the Father.  God is Light.  The experience of light in meditation is what I deem to be enlightenment.  With the light comes a great peace, love, and bliss.

        One must come to one’s own understanding regarding the nature of God. My understanding which is suggested in this book is that God, which in the tradition of my Guru Sri Chinmoy, I call “the Supreme,” is One, who became two, male and female, and then became the many.

         Therefore, I suggest that the Supreme is one absolute formless consciousness which has taken on the role of male and female to know itself, then became the myriad Gods and Goddesses, powers, planets, and souls. In this view the Supreme became all of us, and, there should be no sense of separateness from the Supreme and us.    

         It is only the deluding power of maya, the isolating power of ego, and, the limiting power of karma which prevents one from realizing one’s true nature as the Supreme playing a human role.  It is but the Lila or play of the Supreme being acted out for the entertainment of all.  

         While the Lila may be designated as a dream, it is a real dream, as the Supreme come as our souls has made it real, and, thus making our actions significant as our consciences confirm them to be.  

        The journey up along the path of enlightenment is part of the Lila.  It is the plot of the play.  It is the goal of all of our lives and we will all reach it, no matter how many lives it takes us.  The Supreme is thrilled when we reach the Goal, as it is in fact the Supreme coming to know Himself, which is the purpose of creation.

MAGNETISM AND IMAGINATION

      Magnetism and Imagination. These two gifts are to be used for enlightenment.


      The "Law of Attraction" was called "Magnetism" when first introduced to the west by the Chicago Yoga Publication Society in the early 1900's .  I  prefer the term "Magnetism" than "Law of Attraction" as it is terse and more descriptive. 


      The sum of  Magnetism is Love.  Love draws our attention.   Focused attention effortlessly rests  upon what it loves.  Focused attention attracts the object of attention.  Love for the world attracts material objects. Love for the Supreme attracts the Supreme.

       Love is controlled by the will. "Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart...soul...mind, and... strength" is Jesus' First Commandment.  Use the Magnet of Love to attract the Supreme; all things will be provided. 

      The Supreme's presence in one's conscious mind is Enlightenment.  Taking up the process of  Bhakti Yoga leads to Enlightenment. Bhakti Yoga may be practiced by devoted repetition of the Holy Name.  The Holy Name is manifold.  The Supreme has thousands of thousands of  Names.

      The Supreme's names' potency are variant to some extent in relation to time and space.  In an ISKON Krishna Temple for example.  Using the Mahamantra "HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE" will be very effective.  But if you visit an old church, for example, a Basilica or the Vatican itself, the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or, JESUS CHRIST will release a flow of Grace. The mantra suggested in a Bhuddist temple similarly will have the most potency for that place.

     Similarly particular mantras will be more effective at varying times.  For example I am writing this during the last triad of Navitri.  Now "OM AIM SARASWATIYAI NAMAHA" is powerfully invoking the Divine Feminine as Intelligence, Truth and Beauty.  During the earlier triads, other mantras powerfully invoked other aspects of the Triune Goddess.

     One's time and space relative to the sun, moon, and stars is to be considered in one's practice toward Self - Realization, God - Realization, or, Enlightenment.  When getting started it is best to follow the instruction of one familiar with the Time Shaktis.  When the most potent mantra or Holy Name is determined for the time and place, then one can begin to love the Supreme by putting one's attention on the sound of the sacred syllables.


     Attention is love.  Focused attention upon a person is a form of love. One senses another's attention.  A lover always gives the beloved uninterrupted attention. Uninterrupted and focused attention set upon the potent name of an aspect of the Supreme verily attracts that quality of the Divine.
    
     Love is the magnet. Love attracts the Divine. The Divine attracts Love. Divine revelation is Love unveiling Itself.  Love unveiling Itself is entrancing.
  
     The Divine comes into the mind and heart of the devotee through the devotee's own soul as Supernal Light.  The Supreme attracted by love comes as formless light or a Deva or Devi.  Let the Light fill the body from the single eye.  Surrender the imagination to the in-flowing Light.


      Receiving the Light of the Supreme with a still mind and a surrendered imagination is conducive to visions. Visualizations are impositions of the ego's will upon the imagination. Visions are revelations of the Supreme via a surrendered imagination.
